Dr Roddy Knight: Chiropractor in Inaloo Perth, WA

Until I was 25 I had never actually needed chiropractic care. Although I had been studying chiropractic for 6 months I hadn't had any reason to go, or so I thought. During a workout at the university gym I loaded the leg press machine up too high and ended up tearing my quadratus lumborum muscle. The back pain I experienced was excruciating and debilitating to the extent that I was unable to walk for 2 days. My pelvis was twisted up and I looked a little deformed around the waist due to reflex muscle spasm. Luckily I had the best chiropractic care immediately which helped me regain spinal health to an optimal level. I needed regular spinal re-alignments, adjustments with manipulativetherapy and therapeutic ultrasound every day. I also had a leg length inequality revealed by a lumbar x-ray showing a right short leg significantly (11mm) less than the left. Had I sought chiropractic care earlier this leg length inequality could have been fixed with a compensatory heel lift and I would have been more cautious of overloading my right side during weight training and running.

Innaloo, Perth Chiropractor Dr Roddy KnightI went to a boarding school in the Uk and even had lessons on Saturdays, there I realised sport was far more enjoyable and it made me determined to seek a career outside of an office environment. I studied Sports and Exercise Science at Grenwich University while working as a personal trainer in South London. I enjoyed that and also helping out at three consecutive London marathon's for the Children's Trust Charitable Organisation as a sports therapist. I completed a remedial and sports massage certification while working at Beatty Park as a personal trainer which was also beneficial in helping me provide care to students at the University games in September 2004. I graduated from Murdoch University after completing a 5 year Doctarte of Chiropractic and was one of a handful of pioneer's to be the first graduates from that programme in WA.

We at Complete Care Chiropractic Clinic in Innaloo, Perth take time with our patients, priding ourselves on offering the best possible chiropractic care and returning them to an acceptable level of health in a timely fashion. Dr Roddy Knight does not routinely need to x-ray every patient, Dr Knight does not believe in straightforward "cracking" and provides a more holistic approach to patient care. Dr Roddy Knight combines sports therapy and chiropractic together with the use of rehabilitation and exercise prescription for general and sports specific purposes to every patient.

My wife Sacha and I have a baby boy called Zavier born on 23rd August 2008. We exercise and take part in community activities and charitable work for the Children's Trust. We believe in John Lennon's song imagine and wish the world would adopt it as its national anthem. The children are our future and the world for them should be better than it is for us.

I cycle my exercise routines every 12 weeks, either training with low reps and moderate resistance with extended rest periods or high reps, shortened rest intervals between sets and lots of cardiovascular training. In the past my mistake has been overtraining and now I realise the importance of rest days and sound nutrition.

Dr Roddy Asks some important questions of interest to Innaloo residents - Chiropractor Innaloo Dr Roddy Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
How could chiropractic help a stomach problem?
Chiropractic works by locating and reducing areas of the spine compromising nerve communications between your brain and your body. If nerves to or from your stomach are irritated, your stomach won't work right. Chiropractors find the source of the interference, reduce it and allow your body to work as designed.
